about

Listening to the music of Port Townsend, Washington-based band, Solvents, is like walking through expanding woods. Any veteran of the Pacific Northwest is familiar with the feeling. Familiar with admiring stout stones, steady in their prowess. Familiar with glinting streams under which there is more than meets the eye. Familiar with tall, cloud-scraping trees home to creatures that just might fly away. Familiar with the lullaby and the darkness just ahead.

Solvents, comprised of husband and wife team, Jarrod Bramson and Emily Madden, have a lush history. With glowing recognition from famed Seattle radio station, KEXP, along with NPR, Vice and American Songwriter, the duo’s proverbial soil has proven prosperous. But the key ingredient to the mix is Madden’s spare and signature violin. Contrasting Bramson’s contributions on guitar, piano and drums, Madden imbues a nimble melancholy, like raindrops on dampened grass.

With nine albums to date, Solvents has toured in both America and Europe. But their most recent record, 2018’s Memory Shreds, was recorded on an old fashioned Akai 12-track in a Washington house built in 1872. Harkening to the thoughtful pop music of Guided By Voices and Big Star, the latest songs from Solvents are poised to bring you from your day-to-day into a world where new ideas can form and new breaths can be breathed.

“Washington’s Solvents might be one of the best kept secrets of the Northwest music scene.”

lyrics

Restless and sweaty Im totally wrecking yr life..
Im off on a Sunday so Saturdays open alright..
I'll never regret it or wont let it start some big fight..
Im off like a rocket so dont try and stop it tonight..

Let them have their fun...While their still young..Before the town get sold..before their hearts grow cold..

Let them have their fun!

So dead and frenetic Im totally restless in spite
I guess its pathetic to try and erase the daylight..
Ill never regret it or wont let it start some big fight..
Im off like a rocket so dont try and stop it tonight..

Let them have their fun...While their still young..Before the town get sold..before their hearts grow cold..

Let them have their fun....
